How it Works

The Village Empowerment staff works primarily with the women of each village, teaching them reading, writing, math, and business skills on how to start and run a sustainable business. They then decide upon a type of business to start, and we provide the start-up money that enables them to purchase the supplies they need to get the business up and running.

Our group sponsors food donations, installs irrigation equipment, teaches the village dwellers how to read, and teach mothers proper nutrition, sanitation, and birth control.

Our program enables the village to become self-sustainable in approximately 12 to 24 months. The villages that are successful in becoming independent are then asked to spread the word about the program to neighboring villages, who then contact our representatives to coordinate bringing our process to their own village.

Here are some of the ways we help villages become self-sustainable:

  • Literacy programs
  • Orphanages
  • Business training
  • Business grants
  • Farming education and grants
  • Food production
  • Women’s service groups
  • Care for the sick and elderly
  • Basic education
  • And, whatever else a village needs to become self-sustainable.

As a result, many lives are being saved, poor people are being fed, children and adults are learning to read, elderly people are being cared for, and orphanages are being supported.
